AI Search Visibility
A measure of how often and how favorably a brand is mentioned, cited or recommended in answers from AI assistants and AI search features.
AI answers increasingly shape which vendors buyers consider, and traditional rank tracking does not capture them, so AI visibility shows whether GEO and AEO work reaches buyers and how a brand compares with competitors.
A team tracks 150 buyer prompts weekly in ZeroRank. Its brand appears in 36 answers versus 54 for the main competitor, a mention rate of 36 ÷ 150 = 24% and a share of voice of 36 ÷ (36 + 54) = 40% between the two brands.
Answers vary by run, location, model version and personalization, so scores depend on prompt sets and sampling. Tools define metrics differently and cannot see real prompt volumes, so visibility estimates do not translate directly into traffic or revenue.
Common components are mention rate (prompts where the brand appears divided by prompts tracked), citation rate (answers linking to the brand's pages), position relative to other brands, sentiment, and share of voice (brand mentions divided by mentions of all tracked brands). First-party data is limited: Bing Webmaster Tools reports citations in Copilot and Bing AI answers, and Google counts AI feature traffic within Search Console web results. It measures Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) outcomes.
