DATA ENGINEERING

Data Enrichment

Adding attributes from internal or external sources, such as job title, industry or company size, to existing customer and prospect records.

BUSINESS RELEVANCE

Short forms convert better but leave sales without context; enrichment supplies company size, industry and role so leads can be routed, scored and personalized without asking prospects for more fields.

IMPLEMENTATION EXAMPLE

A marketing team asks only for work email on its demo form. An enrichment tool such as Kuration or HubSpot's enrichment adds company domain, employee count and industry, and leads from firms above 200 employees route to account executives.

LIMITATIONS

Provider data ages quickly and match rates vary by region and company size, so values can be wrong or missing. Under GDPR Article 14, people whose data comes from other sources must be informed, generally within one month.

TECHNICAL EXPLANATION

Enrichment starts from a match key such as an email address or company domain, queries a provider's dataset or API, and writes returned fields to mapped properties in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Settings control whether existing values are overwritten and how often records refresh. Firmographic, technographic and intent fields often feed Lead Scoring, and source and timestamp fields help Data Quality checks.
