Paid Social
Paid advertising distributed through social-media platforms using platform targeting, placement and optimization systems.
Paid social reaches defined audiences in places where they spend time, including people not yet searching, which makes it useful for awareness, demand creation and retargeting in B2B and B2C.
A B2B firm runs LinkedIn Sponsored Content to 45,000 members by job title and company size, offers a gated report, retargets video viewers with a demo offer, and syncs leads to its CRM to measure cost per opportunity.
Targeting depends on platform data that may be inaccurate or limited by privacy changes. Algorithms optimize toward the chosen event, which can favor cheap but low-quality leads, and platform attribution often overstates impact.
Advertisers choose an objective such as reach, traffic, leads or conversions, then define audiences with demographic, interest, job, contact list or retargeting criteria. The platform runs an auction for each ad slot that weighs bid, estimated action rate and ad quality, and its delivery system learns which users are most likely to complete the objective. Results are measured with pixels, conversion APIs and lift studies.
