Programmatic SEO
The creation of large sets of search landing pages from a shared template and a structured dataset, each page targeting one keyword variation.
When demand spreads across thousands of similar long-tail queries, programmatic pages can capture it at a fraction of the cost of writing each page by hand, provided every page answers its query with unique, useful data.
A payroll software company builds a database of 120 countries with tax rates, filing deadlines and public holidays, generates one page per country from a single template, links them from a hub page and publishes only pages with at least 8 populated fields.
Google's spam policies treat mass-produced pages that add little value as scaled content abuse, whether they come from templates or generative AI. Thin variants, near-duplicate pages and wasted crawl budget are the most common failure modes.
A typical build combines a head term with a modifier, such as "payroll in [country]", a dataset holding the unique values for each modifier, and a page template that renders headings, copy, tables and Schema Markup from that data. Internal Linking through hub pages and a clear Silo Structure helps crawlers find the set, and quality thresholds decide which rows become indexable pages and which stay unpublished.
